Project Overview

After discovering visible mold inside her home, a homeowner contacted All Claims Repairs because she wasn’t sure how extensive the problem was or what she needed to do next.

No mold testing had been performed, and rather than immediately moving forward with removal or repairs, the homeowner wanted someone experienced with mold and water damage to look at the property first.

Our team scheduled an on-site assessment to evaluate the visible mold, inspect the surrounding areas, and help the homeowner understand her next steps.

Starting With a Mold Assessment

When our team arrived, the goal wasn’t to immediately start tearing out materials. It was to get a better understanding of what was happening inside the home.

We visually inspected the affected area and surrounding materials for signs of mold growth, moisture, and water-related damage. We also looked for conditions that could be contributing to the problem and checked nearby areas where moisture may not be immediately visible.

This gave the homeowner a clearer picture of the situation before committing to remediation or repairs.

No Mold Testing Had Been Completed

At the time of our visit, the homeowner had not completed professional mold testing. Because of that, we did not make assumptions about the type of mold present based solely on its appearance.

When testing is appropriate, All Claims Repairs can coordinate testing with an independent mold testing company for additional sampling and evaluation.

This allows the homeowner to separate two important questions: What conditions and damage can we identify in the home, and is professional testing needed before removal and mitigation?

Helping the Homeowner Move Forward

One of the biggest benefits of the assessment was simply giving the homeowner a starting point.

Instead of trying to determine on her own whether the visible mold required removal, testing, moisture correction, or repairs, she had an experienced restoration team evaluate the property and explain the options available.

Based on the assessment, we could then develop recommendations for addressing affected materials, correcting any moisture-related conditions identified, and completing remediation and repairs if necessary.

Need Help with Visible Mold?

Finding mold doesn’t always mean the homeowner knows where it came from or how far the problem extends. That’s why identifying the conditions surrounding the visible growth is an important first step.

All Claims Repairs can help homeowners through the process from the initial visual inspection and moisture assessment through mold removal and repairs when necessary.
