Project Overview

An electrical fire in the attic of a commercial car wash caused significant damage to the building’s roof and structural components. The fire affected the wooden roof trusses, and during the emergency response, the Fire Department had to cut portions of the truss system to access and control the fire.

Once the immediate emergency was addressed, the property owner faced extensive repairs to restore the damaged structure. In addition to the attic and roof damage, two of the car wash bays required exterior and electrical repairs.

All Claims Repairs was contacted to help address the fire-related damage and determine the repairs necessary to restore the affected portions of the business.

An Electrical Fire Above the Car Wash Bays

The fire originated in the attic space above the car wash, where it damaged portions of the roof’s structural framing.

Attic fires can present significant challenges because flames and heat can affect structural components that are not immediately visible from the exterior. In this case, the wooden roof trusses sustained fire damage, creating concerns about the condition of the roof structure.

During firefighting operations, the Fire Department also cut sections of the trusses to gain access to the affected areas and extinguish the fire.

As a result, the restoration project needed to address both the original fire damage and the structural alterations made during the emergency response.

Exterior and Electrical Repairs Across Two Bays

For a basement with 2 to 3 inches of standing water, the restoration process typically begins with The damage extended beyond the attic and roof structure.

Two of the car wash bays required exterior repairs and electrical work as part of the restoration project. Because these areas are essential to the business’s daily operations, addressing the affected systems and building components was an important part of the recovery process.

The planned restoration work included:

  • Roof and Structural Repairs: Addressing fire-damaged and cut roof trusses, along with the affected roof structure.
  • Exterior Repairs: Restoring damaged exterior building components associated with the two affected bays.
  • Electrical Repairs: Repairing fire-affected electrical components and systems in the impacted areas.
  • Reconstruction: Coordinating the necessary repairs to restore the damaged portions of the commercial building.

By addressing the structural, exterior, and electrical damage together, the restoration plan could account for the different repairs needed across the affected areas..

Helping the Business Move Toward Recovery

For a commercial property like a car wash, fire damage creates challenges beyond the physical repairs. Damage to the roof structure and electrical systems can affect the business’s ability to use portions of the facility.

In this case, the combination of burned trusses, structural cuts made during firefighting, and damage to two car wash bays created a restoration project involving multiple trades.

All Claims Repairs helps commercial property owners navigate these situations by evaluating the damage, identifying the necessary repairs, and coordinating restoration and reconstruction work.

The goal for this project was to restore the damaged roof, structure, exterior components, and electrical systems so the affected portions of the car wash could return to service once the necessary repairs and safety requirements were completed.
